All it took was an old disco record and a pair of drumsticks. Since before he could put sentences together, Will was putting music together. He put the records on the turntables, found a backbeat in the music and drummed to the rhythm.
With a grandfather who played in a noteworthy jazz band and a father who produced funk
music throughout his childhood, Gilbert grew up with music. He was given his first set of
turntables at age fourteen as a gift and quickly discovered his talent for creating collaborations and remixing Top 40’s.
“If you’re not at least tapping your foot, I’m back at the drawing board,” said Will, a former MTV Real World cast member. His keen ear for eclectic sounds elevated and he began producing his own remixes in his late teens.

While in college, at Michigan State, word spread that Gilbert could DJ house parties,
beatbox and entertain a crowd by breakdancing. Soon, he got requests to put collaborations
together, namely hip-hop and electronic. His mixes were infectious and put people on the dance floor all night.
“Life and all its natural sounds are my percussion.” Those beats, along with the team of
producers and other talent, are the inspiration behind his alias: Bounce Council.
His break came when he was offered a ticket to Los Angeles and a spot on the cast of The Real World: Hollywood. While out West, Gilbert was given chances to network and meet people in the industry. Shortly thereafter, he was offered professional resources and given opportunities to gig across the world as a professional DJ.
